Installation guide

The Multiple Award-winning Kompact EM Series of Upgraded Diverter Valves are the world’s first truly plug and play Upgrade solution for your factory diverter valve. Unplug and unbolt your OEM Valve, and install a Kompact EM Valve in its place. No adaptors, hoses or extra assembly is required.

The Kompact EM Valve Series from Turbosmart, takes the motorsport proven, billet valve technology and adds an onboard proprietary solenoid system and internal pressure control channels for a simple plug & play valve with full OE integration and control. There are no reference hoses, no separate solenoids and no fiddly bits – Just bolt on & plug in!

You can count on unmatched performance & reliability as a direct replacement for your factory diverter valve. The Kompact EM Valves overcome the common faults associated with plastic factory valves through our Boost-Balance Valve Design (The more boost you have, the better it seals), Positive Seal O-Ring on the Piston face and Billet Construction. No matter your application, the Kompact EM Series will hold more boost and be more responsive in any environment.

Why would I upgrade my factory Diverter or Bypass Valve?
Fundamentally, factory Diverter Valves are built to a price point rather than with performance in mind. At Turbosmart, we want you to have the best performance available to you and our range of upgraded valves are designed to overcome the limitations of factory equipment with improved sealing and valve dynamics. A Turbosmart Upgraded Valve will ensure you have all your available boost with maximum response.

How does the Turbosmart Valve provide performance benefits?
The Turbsmart Range of Direct Replacement Valves use our Unique Boost-Balance Valve Technology, as well we a Positive Seal O-Ring on the Piston Face and are made from Motorsport Proven & Hand Assembled, Billet Aluminum. These features ensure you the fastest responding valve and incredible boost holding characteristics in a valve this is virtually indestructible.

What is the Turbosmart Boost-Balance System?
Our Valves are designed to ‘actuate, or open’ via a pressure differential, rather than boost alone. This means we can run the lightest possible spring for super-fast response, but it also means both sides of the piston are subjected to the same boost pressure when accelerating and under load. This means no matter how much boost you run; Turbosmart Valves will not open unless you want then to! At any point in time, you have all your boost pushing it closed PLUS the spring itself!

What is the Turbosmart Positive Seal O-Ring, and why does it matter?
As above due to our Boost-Balance technology, the piston of Turbosmart valves are always being pushed into the valve seat when you are accelerating and under load. On Turbosmart valves, unlike others we use a Viton O-Ring on the face of the valve which ensures the best possible seal against the body. This seal means maximum boost pressure at all times & improves boost response.

Can I Vacuum or Smoke test my Kompact Valve?
You can vacuum test these valves, however you will need a hi-flowing mechanical vacuum pump – you cannot use a hand actuated vacuum pump as these do not replicate the flow your valve would see when fitted to an engine meaning you will likely achieve nothing except for a ‘False-Positive’ to a leak test. These do not use an O-Ring on the side of the piston and are not based on a diaphragm like the OE equipment and instead the design focus is on sealing, speed and overall flow. This design and lack of diaphragm or O-Ring also means you cannot use a a smoke test to test of validate a Turbosmart Valve.

How Much Horsepower will these valve handle?
More than you have! Due to the unique Turbosmart Boost-Balance System, you literally can’t have too much power or boost for the Kompact Range of Vales & at no point will they leak based on ‘Too-Much’ anything. The more boost you run, the better they will seal. With that said, extremely modified engines may be able to find the limit of how much these valves can bypass when open & this is the only limit. If you’re at this level you may want to consider a remote mounted valve with more flow potential to avoid audible compressor surge, however at no point will the valve open or vent due to too much boost or power.
