Data sheet

Turbosmart’s Patent Pending, eWG40 is a fully electronic actuated wastegate – Built on the successful, class-leading GenV CompGate40 architecture, now with the kind of control never seen before. The eWG40 CompGate40 is a 40mm Electronic External Wastegate that uses full electronic control without the limitations associated with traditional pneumatic control.

Starting with a Turbosmart’s GenV wastegate body, you can be confident the mounting orientation will match your existing manifold and outlet hardware. The GenV CompGate40 already had class-leading flow capacity and heat handling characteristics. Now featuring the Turbosmart Patent Pending eWG actuator system, you can also be sure of unparalleled control.

There are no springs, no hoses, no boost reference signal, nor any associated limitations. Gone are ‘Minimum’ boost levels associated with base spring pressure or heat-related issues with hoses. If your manifold priority is good enough, you can set your boost anywhere from zero up to ‘All of it’ – All from your laptop or tuning interface. The eGate range requires a Dual Half-Bridge input for control, much like how an electronic throttle body is controlled and the strategy is as good as your imagination and your ECU or controller will allow.

Don’t have an ECU that has a spare Dual Half-Bridge Output? No problem at all, Check out the Turbosmart BlackBox Electronic Wastegate Controller with up to 2 independent channels via simple PWM inputs, or more advanced CAN-based inputs – All onboard and in the one unit!

Will an eWG fit my existing manifold?

Yes. The Turbosmart eWG range works with the modular housings of the GenV products, so wherever your Turbosmart GenV products are fitted, the eWG will bolt on as they use the same mounting and flange orientation. The Actuator housings of the new eWG range are different, so you’ll need to make sure there is room for the new design in your engine bay.

How fast is the eWG Range?

72mm per second – Full travel can be achieved in 290ms. Fast.

What spring options does the eWG have?

Just the one option: None. The Turbosmart eWG is fully adjustable without the need for springs. It can actuate boost against extreme back pressure levels without any springs. Nothing to change, ever. It also features a unique ‘zero-back-drive’ to further bolster its ability against high drive pressures.

Can I use an eWG instead of my Compressed Gas (Co2) setup?

Yes, you can – In fact, it’s one of the situations that the eWG would be ideal for. You will not need the external compressed gas tank, the lines or the solenoid – You need the eWG.

What do I need to control it?

You will need a programmable ECU (Engine Control Unit). You will need a ‘high current’ (20amp) output and a spare analogue input to make it work. Most quality ECUs can drive the gate for accurate boost control. Best speak to your specialist or calibrator about your needs if you have any questions on what is needed.

Can I rotate the Top Housing?

Yes. The modular design of the GenV Range of External Wastegates means you can rotate the actuator housing 360 degrees for virtually unlimited orientation.
